RIP

Here is the article.

In this day of overpaid, celebrity athletes...who get involved with illicit or perfomance enhancing drugs, who carry on scandalous affairs or abuse their spouses, who get greedy and think of nothing but money and forget the love of the sport...its sad to see that the one athlete who could have made a difference, couldn't hang on any longer.

So long Barbaro...

The Rape of Nanking is NOT A MYTH!

It always bothered me that no one ever taught me about "The Rape of Nanking" in High School or College level history classes. Ever the history buff, what I learned on my own really shocked me to the core, especially the story of the German who worked for Sieman's wiring Berlin about the atrocities. The result was HITLER protesting to Hirohito that what was happening in China at the hands of the Japanese was inhumane!

Anyway, I was reading in the Guardian today that the Japanese plan to make a documentary that rebukes the MYTH of the Rape of Nanking. Japan has never acknowledged it ever happened dispute the amount of evidence. They have never made reparations to the Chinese for the horrors they committed in their invasion of China pre-WWII and during WWII.

My fear is that soon our friend Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will make a similar film about how the holocaust was a myth. What Japan did in China was abominable. They used chemical and biological agents at Changde and even experimented with bio agents on unsuspecting peasants and farmers, kidnapping them in the middle of the night to perform LIVE AUTOPSIES on them to understand the pathologies of their new weapons.

For those of you that know me, and know how I do not question the use of the atomic bomb on Japan, these are the main reasons why. Objectively, all human life is equal in value. The loss of life on both sides would have been a lot higher if we tried to invade. In war, the value of human life is subjective...its US vs THEM and the value of the life is slanted because WAY OF LIFE is entered into the equasion as well as other subjective viewpoints.

The State of The Union

During the speech it appears as though we lost Senator McCain.

Although I am curious. To McCain's right (our left) is Senator Collins of Maine. I am not sure who caused McCain to fall asleep, George and Susan are equally vacuous. One thing I could say it that if Susan Collins put her hand on his thigh, I'm sure he wouldn't have fallen asleep. He would have been too grossed out to relax.
