Weehawken, New Jersey

State Senator Joseph Vitale says he's tired of New Jersey not getting their fair share from Washington Republicans, so he's asking the U.S. Secretary of the Interior to designate Weehawken, New Jersey as the official site of the first time a sitting Vice President of the United States shot a private citizen. On July 11, 1804, Vice President Aaron Burr shot and killed a lawyer and onetime friend, Alexander Hamilton, in a duel at Weehawken called to settle a political dispute -- more than 200 years before Dick Cheney shot a lawyer and old friend during a hunting trip in South Texas.
